Who Are EDF?
EDF is a state-owned French energy company. They are currently the leading generator of low carbon electricity in the UK. EDF has paid £110 million for a majority stake in Pod Point. This is EDF’s largest investment in the electric vehicle market, which is part of their larger strategy to become the leading energy company for electric vehicles (EV) in the UK and Europe by 2022.

Who Are Pod Point?
Founded in 2009 by Erik Fairbairn, Pod Point is one of the largest electric vehicle (EV) charging point companies in the UK. Pod Point currently has 62,000 EV charging points across Britain, including 3,000 charging bays at sites such as Tesco, Lidl and Centre Parcs. They specialise in installing power infrastructure for rapid EV charge points.

The Future Of Pod Point?
The aim of EDF is to use Pod Point to offer customers the ability to schedule EV charging and access competitive electricity costs such as when demand on the grid is lower. EDF hopes this new acquisition will allow EDF to offer quality EV charge point installations.
