In this blog post we have compiled a selection of handy tips and tricks for charging your electric car or vehicle.
Can The Weather Affect The Battery In My Electric Car?
Electric vehicles can work in most weather conditions, be that snow, torrential rain or blazing sunshine. Like diesel or petrol vehicles when it comes to sub-zero temperatures, vehicles need a little extra maintenance. If you are planning on leaving your vehicle in cold temperature for a sustained period, make sure you plug your vehicle into your charging point so the battery in your vehicle is not damaged.
Will The Weather Affect The Range Of My Electric Vehicle?
If you are using your vehicle in cold temperatures why not (‘pre-condition’) warm the car up whilst still being charged, that way you won’t have to blast the heating once you set off on your journey. Another tip when driving in cold temperature is to keep the charge topped up. By stopping for an extra charge on your journey in winter you could eek out an extra couple of miles. As minus temperatures reduce mileage, keep your driving in Eco Mode as this will slightly increase your range.
Many electric car manufacturers have online cold weather calculators, so if you are planning a long journey in lower temperature you can see the reduced range and plan accordingly.
