After a successful trial period Mitchells & Butlers have announced that they have signed a deal with BP Chargemaster to install 200 rapid EV charge points at its pubs & restaurants up and down the country. They hope to have 50 rapid EV chargers installed by October 2019.
Richard Turner of Mitchells & Butlers said: “After a successful trial at a number of our businesses we’re very excited to roll out BP Chargemaster electric vehicle rapid charging points across wide areas of our estate.”
He continued by saying: “With a large number of our sites being located either on or near main roads, we will be able to provide prime locations for an EV owner to charge their car. We recognise the importance of providing somewhere for EV users to charge their cars, whilst also giving them the opportunity to stop off for a coffee, or even a bite to eat, which is how our pubs and restaurants will play a vital part.”
The 50kW Rapid EV chargers are to be installed with investment from BP Chargemaster and they will be part of its Polar network. The EV charge points will be available to use on a pay-as-you-go tariff or via a subscription.
Chief Operating Officer of BP Charge Master, David Newton said that the rapid EV charge points will make it even easier to drive across the country and that it would allow drivers to enjoy a break on a long journey.
